Music Monday: A Little Alternative

This week we are kicking it up a little with my reccomendation. Last week it the magic of Broadway (on the small screen) that I brought you...this week it's the quirky beats of two alternative songs I can't get enough of! Again, I thank/blame Alt Nation on XM for this.

Santigold, Disparate Youth has this fantastic rhythmic sound to it. It just draws you in and when you hear an edgy and sharp electric guitar mingling with the dry and even tone of lead singer Santi White's voice along with synthesized beats, it's ear candy. A good tune for running!
The Last Royals are a duo from New York who first started making music together in 2010. Their song Crystal Vases is an upbeat and funny song about a divorce. The catchy lyrics merged with the palpable drum cadence make it the kind of song that gets stuck in your head all day. I recently recommended it to a friend who's going through a divorce and it was very much appreciated by my soon-to-be divorcee.
