Yeah...so still not sure what shade of green to paint Baby C's room... I REALLY like these Benjamin Moore colors... we have Yellow Green up top, Peppermint Leaf in the middle and Fresh Scent Green on the bottom...
Which do you like? We have 3 days to paint her room...

Alphabetical Order
Happy Monday! In Miami not only is it Monday, but its the first day of school for public schools and many private schools...so it is only appropriate that I show you progress on some of the Miami Alphabet paintings.
This weekend I did nothing but work on the paintings and pack for our move. I can't believe this is our last week in our house after nearly 4 years!
Anyhow---there are a few new letters that I got started on, but I thought you'd like to see the progress on some of the ones you have already seen. The Flamingo has a colored letter, the Banyon is nearly done as is the Manatee.
Only 11 days until the Books and Books Show!!
Hope you had a great weekend!

Keep Looking Up
For as long as I can remember Jack Horkheimer was encouraging me to "Keep looking up" at the night sky.
The Director of the Miami Science Museum Planetarium, Jack also was popular for his show on PBS called "The Star Gazer" (originally called "The Star Hustler").
Jack was great...he mysteriously went from bald to a full head of black hair, and went through a huge Members Only Jacket phase... his voice was distinguishable and made you smile.
Sadly, I never got to meet Jack, but D did several times. It was actually he who broke the news to me tonight after having spent some time today with a friend of ours who works at the Miami Science Museum. Actually one of the first things D and I bonded over was Jack, and his theme song...when D told me he could play it on the piano, well my heart melted a little.
I know somewhere up there tonight Jack is looking down, asking us to look up while Debussy plays his theme song in the background.
Thanks for all those special nights Jack.
Here is the article from the Miami Herald.

Miami ABCs Preview...
Last night I sketched out all 8 of the Miami Letters I am doing for the show at Books and Books next month.
Tonight I put paint to canvas on two of the 8. They are currently drying so I can't apply the first layer of black just yet.
I'm really happy with the way they look so far and I think this is going to be a fun show.

Mission Cupcake: Accomplished
This is me... (4 months pregnant in my Junior League pic for this 2010-2011 year)
This is my friend Tania... (in her picture for Brickell Magazine Top 20 under 40 spread)
This is a Buttercream Cupcake
... for weeks we have been postponing a cupcake date. The plan was, go get cupcakes and catch up.
Easier said than done...
Today at around 5:15pm we decided to finally make this happen. Although a red storm cell of rain was pouring outside, we ventured.
I'd been packing all day with the help of my mama...so the sound of a cupcake was like a much needed slice of heaven.
Generously, Tania came to pick me up wearing her finest and newest T-Shirt...a Lego Star Wars T brought to her from Orlando by her husband who stayed up all night in line to meet George Lucas and Mark Hamel at some sort of Star Wars thing...(it was uber cute and she wanted me to share that with you).
So we made our way to Buttercream (which surprisingly stays open until 9pm on Sundays!)...and indulged. Tania had never been there...and after her orange cupcake...she is in love and going back tomorrow for vanilla coconut cupcakes.
This was one of the best parts of the weekend...since the majority of it was spent packing up our house. ...though we did have a nice time with friends last night for a surprise birthday party.
Hope you all had a nice weekend...painting continues this week.

Pies in Progress
Here is a sneak peak of what I was working on tonight...
Can you figure out what these pies are?
Tomorrow night I am going to finish these and start on 4 more. I'll wrap those up on Saturday and that will mean that we'll have about 12 pie paintings...

Double Banyon Finds a Home
Last summer I decided to paint a double banyon tree for the Books and Books Art Show. These bayons are very common throughout Coral Gables and they make gorgeous statements.
Out of the blue a friend of mine sent me an email yesterday asking for a list of available pieces. I quickly sent it to her with prices, and a few emails later, she decided to purchase Double Banyon while her husband is out of town. When he gets home, the lovely painting that she said reminds her of "a marriage, strong and interwoven" will be there waiting for him.
Today I added my signature note to the buyer in the back, wrapped it up in my traditional brown paper and delivered it to Heather's cute house in Coral Gables.
I'm so happy to know that this painting (one of my all time favorites) is in a loving home....and the best part is I will get to see it every time I go over to their house.
It was a good day.

8.9.10...
I am not good at math...but I love numbers. This is today's date...
8.9.10
I honestly have been looking forward to this date for at least, 2 years when on 8.8.8 I realized that we'd be fast approaching 7.8.9 and then the next year 8.9.10 ...which I think is WAY cooler than 7.8.9
Happy 8.9.10!

Change of Plans...
We are going to rent for a year...that's what it looks like. This means, that the beautiful giraffe fabric is not going to be used...why custom make curtains for a temporary space?
So...instead we are going to use this rug from my current home office space as the BIG pattern for CAS's room...and the best part is that the furniture and fabrics we selected to accent the Giraffe fabric will still work!
I have always loved this rug, the pretty blue birds among pink flowers and greenery.
Here is a reminder of the other pieces and colors...
The bookcase at the end of the upstairs hall is going to be painted red to match the dresser you see here...and those will go in her room. The dresser will double as a changing table. The changing pad is a butter yellow.
The crib is this pretty model from Pottery Barn
Kids. I love the clean simple lines of it. I also love how the chocolate wood will look with the red dresser.
Then we went with this simple blue chambray bed skirt...and a bumper of the same color. Those will actually look really pretty with the blue birds in the rug.

Finally the last big piece of furniture is the glider. Again another piece from Pottery Barn Kids. We went with the butter yellow...and got the ottoman in the same color. I think they will look really pretty with the rug.
I also recently fell in love with this canopy from Ikea...it would not have worked with the Giraffe room...but now that it is something different...I think it could work...no?? Here is a picture of it on its own, and a picture of it in use over a crib...
Now, all we need to do is pick curtains for the space. I think its going to still be a very sweet and unique space for our little girl.
Happy to hear your thoughts...

The Island Shop, Key Biscayne
Exciting news to share today! (no, we haven't found a house...keep sending good joo joo) ...no the exciting news is that as of this morning, cSd paintings are available for you to buy from
The Island Shop on Key Biscayne! So very exciting!
They are carrying 7 of my originals...
2 mermaids
1 shark
1 frog prince
1 queen bee
1 nessie
1 piggies
They are going to see how the public responds to them, and if it a positive reaction, then they want to consider carrying my onesies, kids t's and bags.
So, Baby Mama is smiling...this is good.
Next time you are in Miami, and head over onto "the key" be sure to stop by and let me know what you think.

Q is for Quinn Part Trois
This weekend not only did I see Quinn...but I finished her monogram! I felt inspired to do so after a really stressful week. Pictured here are the step by step of how the process went. I apologize I cannot get step 2 to go in the right direction...but you get the picture.
I am going to ask D to take this over to Austin (Q's mom) as soon as we get moved (don't ask when or where...its a sore subject).
Now I did not take a picture of the final piece, I hope to get one of Austin holding that later this month (hopefully sooner than later...) and you can see it then. But...as you can see I kept to the colors she wanted, a deep purple with a lighter green monogram. I like the final result.
Hope you had a nice weekend.
...do me a favor and send me good joo joo for house hunting! May we find something this or next week at the latest!!
