Music Monday: Love Never Felt So Good

This summer I've fallen in love with Michael Jackson and Justin Timberlake all over again. The MJ single "Love Never Felt So Good" which includes vocals by JT  is a great song. I admit I have not heard the rest of the album, but this song just sounds like summer. It's fresh, it's fun and it makes me want to roll down my windows on the way to the beach. The other great thing... MJ and JT will always be trend setters, from one glove to thick frames and leather jackets on both. They are the kind of men who showcase the intersection of fashion and music.

When I saw this jacket on the Nordstroms website, I completely thought of this song. I've been thinking about getting a moto jacket for this fall, and this might just be the one. 

Available at Nordstroms and on SALE! It's also available in pink! Go full on MJ and pair the grey with some black leather like leggings for the fall... or be a little more like JT and pair the pink one with a white T and ripped jeans.

Friday Fotos (Previously Week-Ender Series)

My break gave me a lot of time to think about this blog (it also gave me time to change diapers and nurse...but that's another story for another blog). I thought about what ties my Monday-Friday here together...and it's my love of art, music, fashion and design. The titles of each entry are just as important...so that is why I have renamed the "week-ender" into "Friday Fotos". Same premise, better name. Thursday Threads: It's in the Stars

When I was growing up my ceiling was covered in glow in the dark stars, then in high school I had a small couch in my bedroom that was upholstered in a blue with white star printed fabric, in college I use to wear my chain of stars necklace from Tiffany's. You can say I've always had a thing for the cosmos which is why I've fallen in love this week with these new pieces from J.Crew. They are straight from the heavens! Art Talk Tuesday: Folk Color Block and Inspirations of Color

Over the past few months dramatic aesthetic changes have been happening at our museum. The changes began to occur before I went on maternity leave, but were not done until after I was gone. There are still walls being painted and amazing artifacts being exhumed for public viewing, but this wall caught my eye yesterday.
This is in the new Folk Life Gallery. I love the way the colors intercept and clash all at the same time. It inspired me to go out and buy a new notebook for this new phase in our history at the history museum. This is what I found...

Look familiar? The instant I saw it, I knew this had to be the one. This lead to me think about the many ways art inspires our actions in life on a daily basis. What colors to wear, where to go on vacation...or simply how to stop and enjoy the simple things. Does art inspire you?

Music Monday: Back in the Saddle Again

12 weeks came and went! Today was my first day back at work from maternity leave. Not that I am going to be establishing my routine again I am really going to make the effort to post frequently.
Today has felt like like my first day back at school, which is why I've been singing the Gene Autry classic, "Back in the Saddle Again" since 7:00 am. It's also Monday, so I am sure many of you can relate... we're all back in the saddle! Click here for the video!
