Thursday Threads: Bright As Yellow

If you're like me, neon shades of color was something that filled your closet in the 80s. Neon yellow and pink were my favorite neon colors, and lately I've noticed they are making a come back. Like all come back trends you don't want to spend a ton of money on these fun pieces. Here are a few I've found that you might like.
This neon yellow skull scarf is from Target and can be just the right amount of neon punch you need. It's only $15 so not a big investment for something you can wear over and over again.
These neon yellow khakis are super cute and come to us from our friends at the Gap. They are really comfortable and you can wear them with a light pink, blue or white. A nice stripe in white and navy would be cute too. This pair will set you back $50. There is a similar pair in denim at Target right now. The Gap and Target also have other neon shades like pink available.

These vintage looking v-neck shirts from Old Navy are the best! I discovered them last fall and have been adding to my collection ever since. They recently added a few neon shades. They are only about $8 a piece and cost less when you buy more than one. Can't go wrong with that!

So there you have it! A nice and inexpensive way to bring some 80s fun into the 21st century for not a lot of dough.

Happy Shopping!

You say it's your birthday! It's my birthday too (yeah), you say it's your birthday (we're gonna have a good time)! I'm glad it's your birthday...

Tomorrow is my birthday and in honor of it I thought I'd let The Beatles do the singing. After all, it's not just my birthday...it's Oprah's, Tom Selleck's, my friend Luis' and my cousin Michelle's birthday too!

Thursday Threads: Birthday Wishes

It is my birthday on Tuesday of next week. Here are some realistic things that I would love to get...(but probably won't).

I have been eyeing this LL Bean bag for a while. My plan is to get it monogrammed in orange or red. Unfortunately the bag is on back order until like March! However, at only $25 for the medium it is worth the wait!
The J.Crew beaded rose necklace is so pretty! It's unfortunately not on their website anymore, which leads me to believe it's gone gone gone. It was $128 and so perfect for the spring!

I could also use a new small digital camera. Mine is dying dying dying!

Hope you've having a great week!!

Art Talk Tuesday: Thanks to Technology (Inauguration Memes)

Regardless of your political affiliation, yesterday marked the passing of another beautiful inauguration (minus that poem and James Taylor's opting for fleece).  Thanks to technology, out friends at the New York Times have compiled the best list of Inauguration Memes: 2013 Edition.
I hope you will enjoy them!

Music Monday: Danza Kuduro

As I started running again, I realized I had not updated my "Running Running" mix since 2008! One of the new additions to the mix is Danza Kuduro by Don Omar. It's a really great song to run to, dance to, and do some house work to. I've heard it here and there for a while, but recently over the break my friend D had it on his playlist.

I hope you had a great weekend and may it have been long!

Thursday Threads: Running Running

This week I started "running" again. I say "running" because I power walk...I walk faster than some runners, but am still too slow to say I "run". Point is, I've realized that it's annoying having to carry my iPod, iPhone and a water bottle. I need a running pack. Here's what I have found.

This Camelbak pack let's you carry a water bottle and has space for keys. Not sure I could cram my iP's...

The pink pack is by Nathan and seems to have a little more room than the Camelbak. I also like the fact the zipper pouch isn't mesh which is good for ransom rain showers in Miami.
Finally there is this other pack by Nathan which I like because of the reflector. It seems big enough to fit everything I carry.

Do you run? Do you carry one of these bad boys?

Wardrobe Wednesday: Pink Leopard

Grrr! Today I had to go back in front of the Miami Dade County Public School board to receive a proclamation on behalf of the museum for our work with our teen program. It was another wonderful experience and about half of our teens were able to go with us. The presentation ran on WLRN TV and radio, twice today...so it was fun to get calls from friends saying they heard me.
This is what I wore...

1. Pearl earrings
2. Pearl and Turquoise and Pearl necklaces, J.Crew
3. Anne Klein pink leopard print shirt dress
4. Gold bangles
5. Gold Reva flats, Tory Burch

Music Monday: Maroon V

It's our first real Music Monday of 2013! I haven't gone as far as downloading One More Night by Maroon V, but I did hear it a lot over the break and tend to find myself singing along every time it comes on. I'm actually really surprised by how much I like this latest chapter of the discography. Are you a fan?
