It's the morning after...according to one of my BFF's who lives in London, it was lots of fun and the city is slowly getting back to normal--but there is an air of hangover in the air. State side my fascinator has come off...and I wanted to share two drawings I did last night while watching what else? Royal Wedding coverage.

Go to Sleep Little Bird...
One of my many meetings today was at the Miami Art Museum and fortunately those of us there for the meeting were subject to a tour of the new temporary exhibition, The Wilderness, delivered by Curator Rene.
The exhibition revolves around the notion of wilderness, what it is, where it is and how we interpret it. There are 8 pieces (if I remember correctly) in the exhibition. I found a one of them, Still Life with Stampede and Wild Sea Birds, comical (in a good and intellectual way...not in a slapstick way)...the artist, David Brookes took lawn sculptures of animals, took them to a bird sanctuary and let the birds do what they do best ALL over the animal sculptures. The artist then varnished the pieces and arranged them to mimic the elephant stampede at the American Museum of Natural History in New York (my favorite dead zoo). The end result...hysterical!
Another one of the pieces that caught my eye was Fernando Ortega's Hummingbird Induced into a Deep Sleep. A video he made in Cuidad de Mexico in 2006---where he videoed a little hummingbird he induced into sleep...really enchanting. You can stare at this little bird for hours as you hear the cacophony of the "DF's" traffic outside the studio walls. (still of video pictured above)
Anyhow---it was an all together interesting show. I would also recommend you go see it and then hop over to HistoryMiami next door to see their current temporary exhibits, Souvenir Maps and Plates in the lobby and then from the collection of Cici and Hyatt Brown
Reflections: Paintings of Florida 1865-1965. Both of HistoryMiami's exhibitions are beautifully curated and have public tours available for your enjoyment and lead by excellent museum educators...not that I am biased.
To the right is the lead image for "Reflections",
Dance of the Whooping Crane by Wyeth.
So go out and enjoy the art Miami has to offer!

Going to Walgreens for Benadryl, Pens...Oooo and Espadrilles!
Friday night it seems like an evil mosquito decided to dine on my sweet baby's blood...Saturday I used Aquafor to sooth her, but it was not enough, so Sunday I went to Walgreens.
Going to Walgreens to pick up some benadryl cream and walked out with....
1. Benadryl Cream
2. New ponytail holders (they're cool and have knots every inch or so)
3. Pens
4. New note journal for work
5. Easter eggs for my nieces
6. People Style Watch
...OOOO and
7. Espadrilles
I'm not even kidding! I found the CUTEST pair of hot pink classic espadrilles at WALGREENS! My mom didn't believe me and had to see for herself since she had just got a pair of Tory Burch espadrilles the day before. They say seeing is believing...now she believes!
...you can too! If you're in Miami head over to the Walgreens on LeJeune Rd. and 8th Street...$16 later, you'll thank me as you wear your espadrilles all summer with white jeans and a tunic.

Snack Heaven
Yesterday I went to see
Summer in Newport at her trunk show. She made the most beautiful necklace, which she named the "Maggie"after my recently departed golden retriever...obviously it came home with me.
Anyhow---she had me try her latest snack treat, chocolate covered animal crackers with sprinkles...they were heavenly...and reminded me of MY new snack treat, Nature Valley's dark chocolate granola squares.
Do you like granola?
Do you like chocolate?
Do you like snacks under 100 calories?
...then RUN don't walk to your grocer and pick up a box...you can thank me later.
(they do come in peanut butter...but I prefer the chocolate).

Maggie Anne
After nearly 11 years with us, our sweet girl Maggie Anne moved on today. Here are some of the works she inspired over the years... and a great picture with her daddy. To read more about Maggie click here.

Riding in Style...
How adorable is this bike?
Kate Spade has outdone herself...again. The Bicycle is only available in stores (each store has ONE bike) and costs $1100...so since I live in Miami (and already own a bike) I will not be purchasing this green beauty.
...however, if you are in the market for a bicycle---and are fortunate enough to have a Kate Spade store in your area...then run, don't walk right over to get it. The good news is that once you buy it, you can pedal your way home in style!

Elephants & Paisley...
I am a long time fan of iomoi. A number of years ago my friend Jessica (a.k.a. Singleton in the Kitchen) gave me a subscription to their e-stationary for my birthday. Ever since then I like to occasionally browse their pages and fall in love over and over again. Lately, I have been infatuated with all things paisley and elephants. I blame this on my mother, who during the holidays turned me onto a GREAT Brazilian telenovela called, India (which has been dubbed into Spanish). As you can imagine M-F nights at 10pm on Telefutura, there is a gorgeous parade of paisley saris and the occasional colorful elephant. Fortunately for me...IOMOI has a way for me to salivate at my recent obsession with the following items which are inspiring me... This beautiful pink and orange paisley scarf...

Carlitos Way...
One of my BFF's Ivon has a gorgeous boy, his name is Carlos. Now, Carlos is not like most 17 month olds...no Carlos walked before he was one and was wearing a 2T at his first birthday. He's a tall boy! Anyhow--- Ivon and her family just moved into a new home and I thought it would be nice to do a little something for Carlos' new room. Here is the process of making Carlos' "nursery" painting... I apologize for the last one...it won't load right...
