Music Monday: Grant Lee Phillips, Love My Way

Today was quite a day, with a sick Mini and Mr. D hurt his back, so I had to bring Mini along for the ride all day long today. On our way from the History Museum to the Science Museum (all in a days work), I heard this song. Love My Way performed by Grant Lee Phillips. I love the original Psychedelic Furs version just as much as the next person, but I thought Grant Lee Phillips did a really nice job with his 2006 remake of this classic.

Are there any remakes you really like?

Thursday Threads: Dog Days of Summer

It is HOT! Normally August and September are the worst months in Miami, but this year here we are in July and it is BAD! To beat the summer days, the best thing to do is fine a great dress and wear it like a uniform. Recently I discovered a few dresses and jewels for the perfect summer ensemble.

This dress is one of the reasons that I am back in love with the Gap.  Currently it is on sale for $30!! It comes in the two prints shown and also in white. It's perfect and ...yes AND it has pockets!!!

Then there are these beauties to layer with these dresses for a touch of sparkle! They are from J.Crew and can also be worn on their own without each other. The bottom one is $55 and the top one is $58. Aren't they pretty??

Any new great finds you've had this summer?

Happy Shopping!

Art Talk Tuesday: Austen, Frederick and Anne...

I am currently reading Persuasion by Jane Austen, I had forgotten how much I enjoy reading Jane Austen. I must confess I cannot remember having read Persuasion but I am really enjoying it. In 2007, the BBC remade the film and did such an amazing job.Above is a drawing I did of our Captain and his Ms. Anne.

As soon as I am done with the book I am going to watch it again...and swoon over Captain Wentworth.I'd happily marry him or Mr. Darcy...who's your favorite Austen leading male?

Music Monday: Sabrina in the Moonlight

When I was about 12 years old, my mom brought home a copy of Sabrina featuring Audrey Hepburn. It instantly became one of my favorite movies, and then a few years later the remake came out with Julia Ormond, Harrison Ford and Greg Kenear. My love for the movie grew as it was legitimately a great remake! At the age of 18 one of my best friends in college and I watched this movie weekly.  It was a staple and still is in my life.  The movie and its soundtrack bring back such great memories. Quotes like,
"David did a Gap ad" roll of my tounge with ease, and romantic ballads like "Moonlight" bring a smile to my face as I remember being swooned by my boyfriend at the time to the song.

This weekend Sabrina was on TV and I automatically tuned in, only to learn that my sister-in-law has not seen the Harrison Ford version, "sacre bleu" as Sabrina might say... so today I'm inspired by "Moonlight" as I prepare to introduce this Hollywood gem to her.

What are some of your favorite rom-coms?
