Wardrobe Wednesday: Mixing It Up

Happy Wednesday! I have to say that recently I have loved seeing mixed prints...but some work better than others. Gingham with floral (YES), stripe with floral (YES), Animal print with floral (NO)... Here's how I am mixing it up today.

1. Black cat-eye, Ray Ban
2. CZ tear drop earring, Nordstroms
3. 2 "crystal" necklaces, J.Crew
4. Black lace with black and white stripe T, Kennar (similar here)
5. Black, grey and yellow floral skirt, J.Crew
6. Black patented leather Reva flat, Tory Burch

I hope you are having a great week!!

Music Monday: Matt Nathanson Mission Bells

A few years ago I first heard Matt Nathanson and really enjoyed his sound. This go about, his sound is still memorable and definitely worth a download. His single "Mission Bells" has the same catchy quality that his previous body of work had. The video is also a fun black and white campy Hitchcock inspired story shot in San Francisco.

Hope you had a nice weekend and had a great start to this week!

Art Talk Tuesday: Versailles Sun

Today one of our Education Center team members left for graduate school in Canada! Traditionally on their last day at the museum (specifically in my department), the person gets a gift and lunch at a place of their selection. So our friend TM selected the staple Cuban restaurant, Versailles for her last lunch. At the end of a great meal we all sat there knowing the sad inevitable was coming...so I drew this little sun on my place mat...a reminder that TM would miss the Miami sun, but mostly that we will miss her ray of sunshine personality.

Thursday Threads: Blue Jean Baby

If you ask me, the most basic outfit anyone can have is a great pair of jeans and a white t-shirt. Pair that with flips for a casual day, or add heels and a statement necklace for a date, toss them with flats and a jacket and you own casual Friday at work. I love my jeans, and I know I wear them every chance I get. Here are some great pairs I found on the interwebs this week.
This paint splattered pair is very fun and brought to us by our friends at the Gap. Currently on sale for $52.99, you can snag a pair for yourself here.

The classic of all classics is a great pair of Levi's jeans. This boot cut fit, which is flattering on most people can be yours for $45 online. The great thing about Levi's is that they NEVER go out of style! Everyone should own a pair!

If you really want something casual, then get yourself some distressed jeans (or make them yourself)...but if you're not a DIY girl, then this great pair from Old Navy can be  yours for the rock bottom price of $15 online! How can you say no to that? Warning...these are the "super skinny" so you might want to go up a size.

Do you have "go-to" jeans in your closet? What do you love about them? Who makes them?
