Happy New Year friends!!

Last night was the ever famous Art Basel Vernissage (VIP Opening Night). It is a who's who of art, artists, celebs, curators and collectors. I wanted to share a few fun pictures from the evening. The picture above is with my lifelong friend and fabulous artist, Lu Coxhead. Doesn't she look fab in her leopard jacket...I want one!
Here I am with my BFF, Ivon who was my date to my first Vernissage a few years ago. This time around we brought the husbands and left our babies with our moms. :)
There are two of my favorite artists and friends, Carlos Alves and JC Alves. Carlos is an incredible ceramic artist. He did the floors in the South Florida Art Center on Lincoln Road and the "Sandcastle" at the Miami Children's Museum. He has invited me to bring Chechi to his studio to do foot and hand prints.
I love my museum friends! Adrianne and Marie are at Young at Art but both worked with me at the Miami Children's Museum. They are both artists in their own right as well. So fun to see them...especially since they gushed over baby and how great I look. It's nice to hear, "I can't believe you had a baby 3 weeks ago! You look amazing!"
A butler presenting an ass with a diamond coming out of its ass...that's all I have to say about this one...
Here we are...out and social with a 3 week old at her Coco's house. Aren't you proud of us?
Here I am with my favorite jeweler, friend and blogger, Kristin. Notice her fancy press pass...next year I am going to try and get one! I mean...I am blogging about Art Basel.
Dear Donald Judd, I love you. I love your work. I love that they are all basically Untitled.
Dear Santa, All I want for Christmas (other than a scheduled baby) is this painting by Mr. T
Monday afternoon, my dear friend Chris (and Fairy Godfather to Chechi) called and invited me to the Bakehouse Party that night. I had no plans to go to any Art Basel events this year because of the baby...but I caved...and once I decided to go to this event, I started looking for tickets to Art Basel's Vernissage (tonight) and Art Miami (last night--but we're going tomorrow).
There were a few artists I really liked. Chris is admiring the robots made by Mike Rivamonte. You can look at his work at www.mrivamonte.com
Another artist I enjoyed was Lynne Libby, who's husband is Father Libby of St. Christopher's on Key Biscayne. She draws her inspiration from living on Key Biscayne. Beautiful work! She's had her studio at the Bakehouse for over 20 years! www.picturetrail.com/lynnelibby
This piece just made me laugh...there's a golden cock on it...how could you not like it?
Gerry Stecca works in clothes pins and makes the most amazing pieces! Here are this bird houses...but you can see a bowl in the lower right hand corner. www.gerrystecca.com
Here is a view down at the crowd from a balcony studio. The Bakehouse use to be home to the Holsom Bakery.
